Latitude on the River Hosts Board Meeting
Edward A. Fish, founder and president of Boston-based E.A. Fish Associates and Steven Gelb, E.A. Fish Associates managing partner for the Florida division, recently hosted the Miami MBF advisory board at the completed Latitude on the River. At this event, Mr. Fish greeted board members with the following interesting comments:
* No man is an island because no man stands alone. Man only thrives when he is not isolated from others....it all boils down to one proven practice – we all must work together in order to achieve the richest, fullest and most ethical life we can possibly achieve.
* Latitude One will be 82% closed by november 30th and 90% closed by december 31st. Latitude is a new concept in office development – it is a condominium as contrasted to a lease concept. It has been built with the finest materials and methods that are in use today – nothing has been sacrificed in quality from what was originally designed.
* It has been a tradition of our family to create the finest developments that can be built. The Latitude is the latest to follow in that list of achievements...when we are asked, 'what is the best thing that we have built?', our reply is 'our reputation."
Designed by Arquitectonica, the mixed-use condominium community is situated along the Miami River in Brickell Village. It encompasses three separate components including the 44-story residential tower, a retail bank and Latitude One, a class A office with 231,000 square feet of space and ground-floor retail, which will house an upscale European cappuccino bar among other unique shops. In addition to the most comprehensive array of amenities in the area that includes a waterfront restaurant, Latitude features a dramatic 40 foot wide by 35-foot high View Promenade with an illuminated wave ceiling traverses the entire ground-floor of the property and connects the two buildings while flaunting direct views of the river.

Flamingo Hosts MBF Aboard Biscayne Lady
The State of Florida’s intense focus on property tax reform was the key topic of discussion at the October MBF Forum Dinner, hosted by the Flamingo South Beach aboard the Biscayne Lady. The event featured a panel of key players involved in property tax reform discussing and debating the issue from all sides.
After a sunset cocktail reception on the Flamingo’s scenic pool deck, guests boarded the Biscayne Lady; a 111-foot, 380-passenger luxury yacht, which toured Miami’s Biscayne Bay for the duration of the evening. Once seated, the guests enjoyed a presentation from David Restainer, Fortune International's sales director for Flamingo South Beach. The panel discussion, entitled “Property Tax Reform – Smooth Sailing or Stormy Seas?” was moderated by WFOR/CBS 4 news reporter David Sutta and also featured:
• Trey Goldman, attorney for the Florida Association of Realtors (FAR)
• Danielle Blake, vice president of corporate and governmental affairs for the Realtor Association of Greater Miami and the Beaches (RAMB)
• Joe Raineri, founder and chairman of NotGoodEnoughFlorida.com, a grassroots organization opposed to the tax reform plan proposed by the Florida legislature
“It was a pleasure to host the Master Brokers Forum and meet so many iconic figures in South Florida’s real estate community,” said Alex Ballerini, vice president of sales for MCZ/Centrum, the developers of Flamingo South Beach. “Flamingo South Beach prides itself on its relationship with the broker community and appreciates their hard work and effort devoted to making our property a successful one. A beautiful – and informative – cruise around the bay was the perfect way to show our appreciation.”
“This was the first ‘offshore’ event in our organization’s history, and it was a truly spectacular affair,” said Alicia Cervera Lamadrid, chair of the Miami MBF. “Our friends at the Flamingo showed us a grand time, and our panelists provided a real-time glimpse into the inner workings of our state’s property tax reform process.”
